About the Black Sox

In the fall of 2007, 5 guys got together and wanted to start a baseball team. Their goal was only to join another league as a new team. However they found out that this league they were interested in would not let them join as a team and they would have to be split up. After that they started to think of other options such as a wiffle ball league and other ways to stay together as a team. When it was all said and done Black Sox founder Angelo Fabrizio Jr. decided to not only start a baseball team but to start an entire league. This is now known as the HVNABA and in its first season in 2008 looks to have 10-12 teams!

The infamous 5 founding fathers of the Black Sox are: Angelo Fabrizo Jr., Jimmy Fabrizio, Joe Cascioli, Ray Campanaro, and Chris Colucci. These 5 names will go down in history as 5 of the most influential names in Hudson Valley Adult Baseball history.

Most Black Sox played their first game in over 10 years during the 2007 Fall season. While noone on the Sox had a breakout year, all in all it was a successful year for the Black Sox and a good way to get back into baseball again! In 2007 Mark Petrosino led the Sox with a .312 batting average and also led the Black Sox in RBIS, Hits and On Base %. Leadoff hitter Angelo Fabrizo Jr. led the Sox in Walks, and Runs Scored.
In 2008 the Black Sox have lost some players but have also added to their main weakness- Pitching! They have also added a few key big hitters to their lineup as well! In 08 the Sox look to contend with strong pitching and a returning core of veteran players!
